Semi only inside the main MOUT site! SAW’s will still be full auto.
We are making this change and announcement before anyone signs up. We want players to understand this rule and why it is being implemented.
MOUT site means the main CTF (city). Inside means all the buildings and paved area as well as the grass area surrounding the MOUT CTF. Full auto is allowed if the player is in the woods surrounding the MOUT CTF. Once you step onto the grass area you must switch to Semi.
Full Auto will be allowed at the Auxiliary MOUT locations used during the FRAGO missions. Inside the buildings is still Semi Only
Reasons: 1. Eliminates people saying they forgot to switch to semi once they enter a building.
2. Reduce the amount of people standing outside a door or window unloading inside.
3. SAW’s can only use Full Auto outside or shooting from inside a building to the outside. a. SAW gunners MUST be min 15 feet from a door or window to shoot inside from the outside. b. SAW gunners MUST have a pistol, shotgun or AEG they can use on Semi-only when they are inside a building.
4. The rule is also designed to squad/ fireteam integrity. a. Each fireteam is allowed 1 SAW. b. Fireteams will need to work close together to make sure they get the support fire from a SAW when moving on another building or defending a building.
5. OPP is about strategy and team work and we expect this to help create more tactical MilSim.
6. We expect more challenges on buildings. a. Someone with an M4 is not going to be able to sit in a mouse hole and stop a fireteam of squad from coming across the road and attacking a building. b. They may get a few but if done properly the fireteam or squad should be able to get across and start a breach. If groups works well together they may be able to start a breach. c. If the defenders work well together they can repel the attack, part of strategy and tactics.
7. People come to MOUT site events to fight in buildings and have to clear rooms. We expect more of this to happen with Semi only rule
8. Instead of requiring low caps or limiting ammo people. Event organizers do not want to have to get into checking to how many bags of BB’s someone carries.
9. Players have 3 months to get use to SEMI only inside a building and attacking and defending a building. a. Working as a squad and figuring out how to properly utilize your SAW gunner to provide support fire. b. Practice your buddy team movement c. Practice your fireteam movement d. Practice talking to each other so you know when to move and you have cover fire.
This is possibly the best idea to ever come along for a milsim op....being effective in battle will now rely on skills and teamwork rather than firepower. Support weapons will have a signifigant role as opposed to being outgunned by rifleman weapons in the past. Thanks Crossfire by continuing to push for more realism instead of watering it down!
I have read everything but there are a couple issues:
The first paragraph says no AUTO inside MOUT. Reason #9 says,"9. Players have 3 months to get use to SEMI only inside a building and attacking and defending a building."
Just so there is no uncertainty,AEGs CANNOT go full auto building to building or on the street, only a SAW gunner can?
It'll lead to less people screaming bloody murder after being shot close range because someone forgot to switch over to semi 16 hrs in! I like the change. OPPI Pathfinder OPPII Bravo QRF OPPIV Bravo 1-1
I agree with this 150%, no more spray and pray tactics....but there wasn't supposed to be any full auto indoors either...and we all know how that turned out....I hope this will not become an issue during the OP.
i like the change! It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. It is the soldier, who salutes the flag, who serves under the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag....
